Kenyan, Jabari and TJ have little in common except for the fact that they’re all basketball players signed to the same team.
Kenyan Washington was born and raised on the lower East side and he has the body count and no bullshit attitude to prove it. The only thing he does better than end the lives of people that cross him is shoot 3s and when his mother ends up getting sick that’s exactly what he turns to. After promising his mom to calm down on running the streets with his best friend, Roderick, he finds himself struggling to stay on the straight and narrow.
Jabari Jones doesn’t have time to chase after women. He planned his entire life around playing professional basketball and that’s what he plans on doing. The only things that matter to him is his ability to play the game he loves and making sure that his younger sister and cousin are always taken care of.
TJ Brown was born from money and a lot of it. The son of a well-known lawyer and surgeon the only thing that’s ever been a challenge for him is getting signed to a basketball team and living with his controlling and verbally abusive father and overly polite and traditional mother. While struggling to stay a relevant part of his new team, he also struggles with getting his freedom from his family.
Kenyan, Jabari and TJ are all men dedicated to protecting the women they love. In the form of mothers, siblings and other family members, they’ve all constantly found themselves holding all of the pieces together. When they come across Rhea, Amber and Chanel, three women devoted to making it on their own, they find themselves lost in the presence of women that want a man, but in no way need one.
Rhea Jones is a woman with a plan. She intends on saving up enough money to open her own little boutique with clothes all designed by her and things seem to be on track… until she finds out that she’s pregnant by her cheating boyfriend. Rhea takes the news as an opportunity to start anew and when her brother, Jabari, signs a contract to a basketball team halfway across the country she jumps at the opportunity to work on herself and focus on her passion and her child.
Amber Smith is a bartender with dreams of becoming a DJ for some of the best-known rappers in the game. When her cousins, Rhea and Jabari move to the big city and take her along with them she finds that her dreams are closer than she ever imagined.
Chanel Williams is working two jobs to move herself out of the hood and she refuses to let anyone stand in her way. She has big dreams of doing something with her life that doesn’t revolve around dancing on a basketball court or running food to tables she just doesn’t know what yet.
Three women devoted to changing their lives, they are shaken and caught completely off balance when they find themselves face to face with men who respect their independence, but don’t want them to have to do anything on their own.
